English Students Write a Book

by sierra heesacker
Lakeview High School offers many college courses for the senior students to attend. One of these courses includes college English, advised by Mrs. Kelly Schaad. Schaad also teaches Speech 10, English 12, and plays a major role in prom as the committee advisor. This quarter, the College English classes collaborated together to write a book.
“I thought is was really fun and helped us with our creativity and humor, along with showing our humor,” answers Loseke when asked what he thought about the recent project they did in college English. He is in Schaad’s 5th period college English class, which he says is his favorite period of the day. Each student individually wrote their own chapter to form their book. This indeed, required teamwork. College English students had to brainstorm ideas, and together come up with a theme for their story. They next had to come up with enough chapters so that each person could participate in writing one. The difficulty was conversing with the student who wrote the previous chapter, so it would make it all come together and make sense.
"College English is one of my favorite classes because I love to read and write,” adds Loseke, “Plus Mrs. Schaad is funny and keeps us entertained, her room also smells very nice”, Many students would agree that Schaad is the reason they love the class so much. The senior class will now finish out their high school English by making their memory books. These are books that they will be able to keep with them for the rest of their lives. Each senior makes their own memory book, to get graded on, about their whole life. Even though they get graded on their work, many of the students enjoy and look forward to it.
