Volleyball Teams Travel to York

by morgan iverson
Coming off the weekend losing to both Twin River and Bishop Newman in the Scotus Tournament, the Lakeview varsity team was prepared to fight in York last night. The varsity squad swept York in three bringing their record to 3-2.
“I saw that we had more energy on the court and we pushed for every point," said senior outside hitter Alexis Beiermann. The girls continued to work hard until they ended each play with the Vikings coming out on top. They finished in two tight sets. "Getting the win at 28-26 in the first set was a big step forward for us and then earning a 3-set sweep over a good conference opponent showed some consistency we haven't shown yet," said head coach K.C. Belitz.
The freshman team and the reserved team started the night taking control of the court and finishing the game in two sets. Although junior varsity players didn’t come out with a win they still pushed the Dukes into three sets. “We worked pretty hard on a couple of things, and it definitely helped us in the game. It wasn’t our normal pre-game because we were tired, but it was worth it," said Beiermann.
"Our team's strength is simple: balance. We have to be able to spread the ball around to all five offensive options for us to be successful," said Belitz. At every level, the teams will all work on attack efficiency going into the games against Central City tomorrow night.
